Cookies policy
Last updated: 30 April 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar local-storage technologies Foreman uses on its website (foremanai.trade) and in its dashboard.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser. They let a website remember things between page loads (such as whether you are signed in). Some other technologies — like localStorage — work in similar ways and are covered here too.
What we use
Strictly necessary
- JWT session token (localStorage) — keeps you signed in to the dashboard. Cleared when you log out or delete your account. Without this, the dashboard cannot function. No consent required.
Analytics (signed-in dashboard only)
- PostHog — measures product usage in aggregate. We send only event names (e.g. “signup_completed”) and your tradesperson ID; no personally identifying details, no message content. PostHog data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). PostHog is not loaded on the public website — it only runs once you have signed in to the Foreman dashboard.
Opt out at any time. Open Settings → Privacy → Product analytics and switch off the toggle. The setting is stored in your browser’s local storage and takes effect immediately on this device. Email us if you would like the opt-out applied account-wide.
Performance and error monitoring
- Sentry — captures crashes and errors so we can fix bugs. Sensitive fields (auth tokens, passwords, session cookies, request bodies that contain credentials) are redacted before any data leaves your browser. Sentry runs on every page because uninterrupted error monitoring is treated as strictly necessary for service operation; we rely on legitimate interest under UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) for this processing. Data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt).
What we do not use
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Third-party tracking pixels
- Social-media share trackers
How long do cookies last?
- JWT session token — until you log out or the token expires (60 days max).
- PostHog — persistent identifiers expire 365 days after last activity.
- Sentry — short-lived, per-error-event only; no persistent identifier.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out of Foreman and you’ll need to log in again.
To opt out of product analytics specifically, switch off Settings → Privacy → Product analytics in the dashboard, or email hello@foremanai.trade and we will exclude your account.
Mobile app
The Foreman mobile app does not use browser cookies. It stores your session token in the device’s secure keychain (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore as applicable) and uses the same analytics and error-monitoring tools described above. No browser cookies are read or written by the mobile app.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If we add new categories of cookie that require consent, we will surface a banner first.
